How to enable pinging by hostname

This has been a capability of all my previous routers (? I think), that if I name the devices on the router, I can then ping them by that name, (ie if I run >ping media, where I have set media = 192.168.0.xx in the router, and it is also included in the hosts file) but this does not appear to be the case with the Flint2?

Where am I going wrong? Tips for enabling this?

This feature works out of the box.

By default, you can ping devices using their hostnames. However, please note that the device running the ping command must be using the router’s LAN IP as its DNS server, and no VPN or proxy software should be enabled.

If you need to customize hosts file, you can configure them under Admin Panel → Network → DNS:
