How to obscure network device information for GL.iNet GL-MT1300?

@i7bar Thank you.

As I know nothing about this issue, could you recommend a configuration for the GL.iNet GL-MT1300 router? Or could you link to resources that might help?

edit: I suppose this thread helps: Change outgoing TTL - #23 by Teth123 .

I’m not entirely sure how to apply this to repeater mode, even with the firmware version of 3.215. I guess I setup some advanced firewall rules, and that the TTL interface only otherwise applies to the “modem” mode.

More steps would be to:

  • Change the hostname of the device in LUCI
  • In LUCI, go to Network then Hostnames and then delete console.gl-inet.com

There must also be some plugins that would help, but as there are 977 pages of plugins, the options are overwhelming.

For anyone else having this problem of difficulty connecting at a Hilton with the Captive Portal not appearing, what fixed it for me is to go to the VPN Dashboard → VPN Client → Global Options, and uncheck “Block Non-VPN Traffic”. I also had to set my WireGuard to disabled to get the captive portal to come up. You can turn WireGuard back on once you’re connected.
