How to Reduce Bufferbloat with SQM on GL.iNet Routers

Just saying thanks for that Blog post! I do use SQM and did learn about it in this forum. The only new information in the blog for me is that SQM for Download is unnecessary (because the flow is controlled by the Internet Provider). Turning that off and keep SQM on Upload reduced the load on the device and made the connection smoother.

Additionally I hope QA keeps an eye out for this and similar tutorials: If a Firmware Update breaks this functionality, it would make a better experience for those using it to be informed in advance about what to do about it (happened before with other functions).

As this is a third-party plug-in and does not belong to a feature in the GL firmware, we may not with it for testing when we release the new firmware.

But if there is an issue after upgrading the firmware version, please let us know and we will solve the issue caused by it as much as possible.

That's understandable. It's not in your code. But it still is on your official company blog and might potentially frustrate users if it breaks.

As I see it, GL-Inet is excellent in innovation and openness, provides mostly good support while lacking a bit on the stability side. If it would be me to decide (obvously I'm not) I'd push to enhance the development model towards the two latter points while keeping the two former ones.
