HowTo? Non-AP access to printer on WiFi SSID from WAN

The BE9300 is in router mode with its WAN port connected to my 10… intranet.

I want to put my printer on a non-Guest SSID with the router setup as a router - not an AP. I realize the printer will get a DHCP IP from the router 192.168.8.x.

I want clients to be able to access the printer that is on a main, non-guest, SSID of the router (HP printer/scanner combo).

so:

  • Printer has 192.168.8.x IP from the router and is on wifi 5G
  • Clients on any non -Guest or router Ethernet or the 10… Intranet that gives the router an IP for its WAN port - sh.ould have full access to the printer.
  • Clients on guest WiFi SSID’s should have no access to the printer.

I realize this is a bit of “swimming upstream” to get to the printer from the intranet, however would like to setup this way instead of putting an Ethernet cable on the printer and connecting it to the Intranet to get a 10… IP Please note that there may be more than one printer like this. Thus, making the printer the DMZ host is not practical.

Thank you for your thoughts on this.

All clients on the same network, regardless of how they connect (AP or main router) should be able to connect to the printer on the same network. It doesn’t matter how you connect, as long as you are on the same network (192,168.8.1-255).

Do you mind opening your BE9300 LAN to the BE9300 WAN (ie to primary router)?

If you evaluate the 10.x.x.x (primary router) is secure and on your control, you can change the forward of WAN -> LAN to accept in BE9300, and then add a new route manually in the primary router, the target is 192.168.8.0/24, and the gateway is your BE9300 WAN IP.
