Installing NO-IP on (Flint 2) running 4.8.3

Greetings,

I recently acquired a MT-6000 (Flint 2) to replace a TP-Link ER605 router after having just upgrading my cable modem to a Hitron CODA56. The ER605 was easily and readily using NO-IP for dynamic DNS. Based on what I have discovered. I have installed various packages on the Flint2 so that I have Dynamic DNS displaying in Services Tab of Luci. I thought all would now be golden. Alas “NO-IP” does not appear as an option in the services list. Closet match is “no-ip.pl” Suggestions appreciated about how I might proceed. Create a “custom-service” or other? Worst case scenario, I can just install a NO-IP client app on a device. My preference however is of course to have this process relegated to the router.

Thanks for insights.

Go to System > Software and search ddns-scripts.

Hi,

I have both ddns-scripts and ddns-scripts-noip installed. There apparently is a difference in our versions. Each one of my packages are version 2.8.2-12. I did update/refresh my package lists. I will look again.

The package ddns-scripts-noip is a addon for ddns-scripts to the noip.com one :+1:, maybe you need to perform a reboot or re-login for it to be visible.

Make sure you have curl defined or drill as package in ddns, and then you can click the update services in the ddns app.

When in doubt reboot. Been there and done that.

“Make sure you have curl defined or drill as package in ddns, and then you can click the update services in the ddns app.” Hmm

Drill package was/is installed. In LuCI Dynamic DNS “Global variables” interface I enabled curl and rebooted to no avail. I hate to say it. I installed NO-IP client app on a device always running and Voila I have a temp solution that requires minimum intervention on my part. “knock on wood” I will continue hammering at a solution for the Flint2.

Thanks for your insight. Gave me new options to consider and ways to think differently.

Mea Culpa, Mea Culpa, Mea Maxima Culpa.

This is the Cliff Notes version of "My Resolve": Scroll through the COMPLETE list of service providers as the entire list is not sorted by Alpha. There are outliers.

Notes:

I initially happened upon the resolve after tweaking software and configuration on a brand new out of the box MT-6000 (Flint 2) running firmware version 4.8.3 which is the most recent version of the software.

I did not remove any software packages ( gl-sdk4-ddns ). I only made additions as seemingly required and required for functionality.

wget-ssl - Installed as it is used by default in Dynamic DNS Global Settings by Default.

Other Packages Installed
ddns-scripts 2.8.2-12
ddns-scripts-noip 2.8.2-12
ddns-scripts-services 2.8.2-12
luci-app-ddns git-22.123.50005-9139ad4

There is a good possibility that I may be missing a package that I newly installed versus already being installed.

Thank you to those who shared input in this thread and the many others who shared their respective insight on how to get NO-IP to function in other posts in this forum and elsewhere.
