I set up AXT1800 via my ethernet cable connected to my windows PC. I then installed the gl-inet app on my iPhone 15 Pro and was able to connect to the router via 192.168.8.1. I set up a NORD vpn and once up and confirmed I clicked the trust local network button. I logged out quit for the day. Next day I tried to use the IOS iPhone app to look at the dashboard and I can no longer get into the router. My iPhone 15 Pro is running 17.6.1 and glinet is fresh off the App Store. I have an iPad Air running 17.6 and glinet IOS app and it has no trouble connecting to the router dashboard. I am using the router in repeater mode and the iPhone is using the 5G band and is connected to internet. A speed test comes back with 100 down & 10 up. I can connect to the router dashboard from a browser on the iPhone using 8.1 address. I have deleted and reinstalled the glinet IOS app several times with no change in symptom.
Any ideas what could be the problem with the glinet app on my iPhone?
I assume your router is somehow offline. No WAN connection, DNS resolve error, ... whatever.
The iOS detects the WLAN got no internet and is routing all data over the mobile data plan route...
Not sure I understand "directly connected" it is connected to the AXT1800 via the 5G band and is sitting about a meter away from the router. The phone is connected to the internet via this signal and can transmit and receive data with no problem. When I start the IOS glinet app it goes to the splash screen to either "Set Up Router" or "Log in GoodCloud". I cannot connect directly with the router via the app.
No the router is not offline. Devices can connect to either the 5G or 2G bands and be connected to the internet. I can also get to the router dashboard via any browser using 192.168.8.1. Just the glinet app is not connecting on this one iPhone.
If you can reach the admin page by browser, you are at least not in the guest network.
To me it sounds like a kind of malware scanner or firewall on your mobile... But as far as I know the app is using REST API over https, as well. If the browser works, I don't know what to test else.
Thanks for all the help from everybody. I did click on "set up router" then "initialized Devices" since my router is already setup and working. My phone is connected to network the AXT1800 is broadcasting and when I enter the network address, 192.168.8.1, or 192.168.8.1:80 I get "The address is not accessible or not correct...." but my router continues to service the the devices that are on the network.
Okay, I powered off and powered on the iPhone and everything started working as expected. I can get to the dashboard of the router via the glinet app and enable/disable the VPN. I have no idea what state the iPhone was in I checked all the network options and buttons but I did update to IOS 17.6.1 a couple of days ago and probably did not reboot my phone after that was complete. It must have left something in an odd state causing the issue. But after the power off/on everything is working. I should have started my debug with the standard power off/on first. Thanks for all the ideas.
