IP forwarding and subnets clarification

So, I already have my GL-iNet router working successfully with my Tailscale exit node, but I’m just trying to remember a few things for the purpose of creating a how-to guide for others.

In the case of using the GL-iNet router with subnets for using a Tailscale exit node with a LAN device that does not have Tailscale installed…

I understand two things must be done to the GL-iNet router (as shown here: Subnet routers and traffic relay nodes · Tailscale Docs):

  1. IP forwarding enabled
  2. Enable subnet routes

My two questions are:

  1. Does the exit node device need to have the “–accept-routes” flag when running the Tailscale up command in order for it to work with the travel router?

  2. Does the exit node device also need IP forwarding enabled?

Thanks

ps -w | grep tail should determine that… but I don’t run TS so YMMV.

Unfortunately that didn’t work. No output.

I only see
root 29748 1 0 03:22 ? 00:04:01 /usr/sbin/tailscaled --state=/var/lib/tailscale/tailscaled.state --socket=/run/tailsc

So that doesn’t help.

I think the output is truncated. Try MobaXterm, fullscreened.

Sorry, Mac user here.

In that case ssh in the console should be totally fine.
