IP KVM & Cloudflare Zero Trust? Awesome

Picked up a POE Comet and played around with it on a headless system, then ended up picking up 2 Pro’s. All 3 are connected to various systems in my “home lab” either directly or via a KVM.

Have all 3 configured in a CloudFlare Zero Trust, and the performance compared to RDP and VNC is incredible. While the zero trust can render RDP windows in a browser, there were always glitches that caused a lot of usability issues.

While there are little glitches here and there with the IP KVMs, the overall usability is great. I just load a browser window on my work system and I’m able to get into my home systems through a secure tunnel without any additional software installed on the work laptop….. I’m posting this from my MacBook sitting on my desk at home while I’m at work.

I have tried a LOT of software based solutions to do this - and nothing has come close to what I’m able to do with these devices. It’s been a huge help to some of my work processes, that by the nature need to happen in a sandbox environment to avoid risk to company infrastructure. Being able to access my VM server this easily, to quickly spin up various systems is amazing.

We've already added access methods like ZeroTier and TailScale, and Cloudflare might be a future option as well.

FWIW, I'd be happy to help test a CloudFlare solution.

Ohhhh that would be amazing!

I have a server that has the Zero Trust gateway running in a docker; while there is the occasional bandwidth related glitch with how I’m doing things – this has been an incredible experience. I just get through a few 2FA auths and can access systems without any additional software. Can’t beat that.

Did have a recent quirk where the WebRTC(FEC) stopped displaying the video output, but I’m not certain where the issue is – could easily be something on my internal network; need to do more troubleshooting before I complain to ya’ll. WebRTC still works fine!
