iPhone tether successful but no internet

Hi

I have a mango router reset to factory settings. I can successfully tether over USB to my IOS 16 iPhone. on the LAN side (laptop or macbook), I can’t get internet access, either over wifi or ethernet cable. The bizarre thing is that I can ping 8.8.8.8 or 1.1.1.1 no problem and even ig I use these DNS servers in windows or MacOS, still no internet. Is this some kind of firewall or DNS issue on the router? Thanks

It seems to be a DNS issue if pinging 1.1.1.1 works. On your laptop or MacBook, run the nslookup command for “google.com” to see if the domain can be resolved.

If it does not resolve, then log into the router over SSH and run the same “nslookup” command. If it still does not resolve, then check/reconfigure the DNS settings on the router.

I do not work for and I do not have formal association with GL.iNet.
