Is the Beryl 7 (MT3600BE) expected to get option of OP24 or newer firmware in the foreseeable future?

As far as I am aware, only the Beryl AX and Flint 2 currently have the option of the newer base, and that is experimental still or in beta.

It seems that the Beryl 7 would be a good candidate for the newer alternative firmware for the same reasons that these other two routers are (Mediatek chips, and Mediatek officially providing an sdk for OpenWRT 24.10)

I’ve been holding off on deciding what to buy in hopes that support for a newer base version of OpenWRT would be announced, but it’s getting harder for me to push back a purchase. So my question is are there technical or other barriers preventing offering an OP24/25 version of the Beryl 7 firmware?

Our engineering team is compiling the OP25 firmware.

Version 25.12.4 has been compiled, but a new 25.12.5 update has been released.

The software package needs to be recompiled.

Therefore, recompilation and testing are required.

We are currently working on the process, and once basic testing is complete, we will release the beta firmware.

It may just take some more time.

Thanks, I look forward to helping test the beta when it’s available.
