Is the GL-XE3000 weak?

Recently I got the GL-XE3000. I have noticed, that despite this router looking like a beast with 6 antennas, I have much worse signal than on my phone (pixel 10)

For example, I measured on the exact same spot on my phone and XE3000 at home. My phone at home has about 600-700mbits down and the router only about 400-500mbits.

To put the router to the test, I went directly under a cell tower. My phone does 1,6gbits down and 170mbits up.

The router only does 930mbits down and 70mbits up.

Why is the router so weak? Even in difficult network conditions my phone seems to be better? Am I doing something wrong? I have chatted a bit with gemini, and I’m not an expert but it told me with some AT-Command diagnosis, that the router does not do 4x4 MIMO which could be the issue.

Modem Firmware: RM520NGLAAR03A03M4G (tried R01 and R03 firmware)
Network: Telekom .de

I have also tried spoofing IMEI to Pixel 7. And TTL to 65. And MTU to 1480 (seems to be the limit). Hardware acceleration also to Software enabled.

My iPhone 17 will run circles around the Sptiz AX. 300-500mbs is about max I get on Spitz AX and I am very grateful for it, it’s pretty quick for real use cases. I suspect it’s the modem in the Sptiz AX to save cost. The Spitz AX shines when your phone shuts off because it can’t sustain Wi-Fi and 5G loads before it melts. Phones are great at bursting 5G, but not under sustained loads.

It’s really unfortunate. I think I will send the router back, it’s not suitable for my use-case.

I really hope the next version will be stronger!! Better modem and better signal.
