Is there a Brume 3 on the way?

Hi,
I own a few Brume 2 and I am thinking about buying a new unit. However, given the issues with Brume 2 getting bricked so easily I dont know if thats the right move.

Questions:

  1. Are the Brume 2 issues fixed in the current units being sold by Aliexpress glinet official store?
  2. Is there is a Brume 3 (or any other gateway only device) being planned? If so, when is it expected to be launched?

Regards,

I’d like to know too.

Hello,

There is no problem with the Brume 2 currently on sale.

If there is any abnormality in Brume 2 purchased from official channel, please feel free to communicate with our CS team by cs@gl-inet.com.

There is no plan yet about Brume 3, you can come up with some features you expect.

Extending on what was said above, being able to assign VLANs based on Option 60 / VCI data from DHCP requests would be really helpful for categorizing IoT devices.

Similarly, being able to easily assign different DNS servers to different VLAN groups would be really helpful.

Adguard Home does a little of this, but trying to go back and forth between what's configured via their interfaces vs. the main router interface gets messy.

Note that even just a refresh on newer hardware built on a newer version of OpenWRT, presumably with a higher max speed supported for VPN would be a nice improvement.

They announced the Brume 3 at GL.iNet’s 15th anniversary conference. I don’t have the specifics about it handy.

We still have some difficulties to improve and are working hard for it.

I believe you will meet it early next year.

I see the webpage is up, do we have a rough timeline when the brume 3 is coming out?

I am eagerly awaiting this

This can be magic. I hope that they bring vpn obfuscate via wireguard and more speed in VPN . I’m a fan on self hosted solutions from dedicated servers .

it’s beautiful that we are back to the design on the original Brume, three ports instead of the two on the Brume 2

Any news on the specifications of the new Brume 3 (GL-MT5000)?

We can already see some differences. To achieve 1Gbps in WireGuard, it needs a new processor. Let's hope that the RAM and EMMC are at least the same as the previous version (DDR4 1GB / EMMC 8GB), but the community would appreciate it if they were better, as that makes all the difference.

2 × 2.5Gbps LAN. The old model (Brume 2) already had the 2.5Gbps WAN port.
Is that correct, or am I wrong.

Correct, Brume2 is 1 x 2.5Gbps + 1 x 1Gbps, Brume3 is 3 x 2.5Gbps (1 WAN + 2 LAN).

seems to be here

can anyone show the size difference between the Brume 3 and the Brume 2 and the Brume W?

Is it possible to flash the Brume 3 to vanilla OpenWRT?

Can I think of the Brume 3 as a wired router? The marketing suggests adding the Beryl 7 to give the Brume 3 WiFi.

From my point of view, if you want Wi-Fi, you can just take the Beryl 7.
