Issue 4.7.2 Beta - Adguard Home Start and Stop from GUI

Hi, I am currently testing beta firmware 4.7.2 with my XE300 (Puli). Installed gl-sdk4-ui-adguardhome together with gl-sdk4-adguardhome from the Plug-ins section. Issue:

I am unable to start and stop Adguard from the GUI. The button "Enable AdGuard Home" is locked - means it does not move in either direction.

I am able to start Adguard via SSH with

service adguardhome start

and stop

service adguardhome stop

Also statistics are not updated in the GUI when Adguard is running.

Looks like an incompatibiliy between the current version of the plugin and the beta 4.7.. Is this a known problem?

Hello,

The hardware of XE300 is not high (RAM, 128MB), it is probably very difficult to support ADG running.

ADG can be enabled in GL GUI and seems to be no issue to run, but there is indeed an issue about statistics in GL GUI.

When ADG is enabled, the RAM usage is very high, as well as the CPU, and the system response has obvious lag. For example, the ADG setting page is opened slowly.

This is why there is no pre-install the ADG in the XE300 firmware.
May difficult to optimize ADG performance or function on this hardware anymore.

Please consider upgrading newer router, or do not run ADG on the XE300.

Thanks for the explanation. I am aware of the limited hardware resources. Unfortunately my use case needs a router with a built-in battery and there are only the Puli and the Mudi and they share the same specs when it comes to memory and CPU - as far as I can see.
Anyway, I will take a closer look at Control D DNS as an alternative.

One last question: Would you know how to uninstall Adguard. When I try from the GUI I get below message:

Is there another possibility without reseting the complete router install?

The relevant ADG plug-in package can be removed in the router SSH:

opkg remove gl-sdk4-adguardhome gl-sdk4-ui-adguardhome

Thank you very much for your love with GL products. The new Mudi will be released soon. It is expected that this year, key features 5G, WiFi7, hope it meet your use case.
