Issues with X300BRC4, "SIM card not registered"

I have a “Collie” device, supposedly 4G, but I am having issues. It has worked so far with one carrier here in Iceland, but I wanted to switch to another carrier that no longer has 2G/3G and I get the “SIM card not registered” error.

The first carrier still works, but I get 3G speeds of less than 8 mpbs and they are also soon shutting down the old 2g/3g networks, so I fear I will have issues at that time.

I wonder what I can do to make it work with the new carrier? Shouldn´t the device not work with any 4G network?

I have played around with the APN, the Network settings (3G, QMI, QMC) but nothing helps.

Hoping to get assistance.

Hello, the Collie does support 4G. You can try the following troubleshooting steps first to see if it helps:

Check the sim Card and the antenna: make sure the sim card is activated and the 4G antenna is properly connected
After inserting the new sim card, reboot the router. Try connecting it by cellular Auto Setup
If Auto Setup doesn't work, stop the cellular connection. Manually fill in APN and retry

If issue persists, export the system log and the modem-debug info (this can be exported from Cellular section ->Modem Management page). You can PM me the relevant info or send to [email protected] to check.

Thanks for the suggestions Cathy. I have actually tried all of that, in addition I have tried various AT commands to force certain conditions.

Let’s set this up:

Carrier 1: Siminn - Works every time, regardless of settings that I have or change, i.e. works on their own APN, but also the APN of carrier 2. Speeds are “slow” ~8 mpbs (perhaps to be expected from the Collie?). This carrier still has 2/3G.

Carrier 2: Nova - Has never worked, despite setting APN, PAP, AUTH or any other setting. This carrier no longer has 2/3G. This carrier also piggybacks on another carriers towers.

The logs have shown that when I put in the Nova SIM card, the Collie will not work well, even reboot the modem:

Has this X300B been updated to v4? If yes, could you go to INTERNET ->Cellular ->Modem Management, export the modem debug info and send to us for further investigation?

Yes, I am on the latest version. I am currently at work, as soon as I have the chance I will provide the logs.
