Most of my daily time is spent playing PC games, so I rarely have the chance to take out my console for a game. However, every time I have to connect it to my computer monitor or to a television, which is quite inconvenient. I discovered that connecting it to a KVM and accessing it via the local area network—using the KVM as a remote display—works very well for me. The latency isn't so high that I can noticeably feel any lack of smooth control. It also makes it very convenient for me to switch to the PC side to look up guides and similar materials.
Even on some pc games it works also nice, I have played NTE a bit via the kvm and to my surprise it was still smooth.
Although I'm still more fan of a program called pxplay for playstation, and for pc gaming I use Apollo (a fork of sunshine by classicoldsong), this fork allows me to spawn virtual monitors based on the clients size, the kvm becomes more of a issue I would think for passing through controllers.
To me I use the kvm only for booting my pc decrypting disks at bios level, and then in Windows I use the monitor api by Microsoft to turn off others when moonlights virtual monitor spawns to remain conflict free with game, I often game remotely.
