Joining/repeating a DFS network

I successfully enabled DFS wifi connectivity for my trusty GL-AR750 a few years ago, but updating the firmware to v4.3.17 lost the ability to connect to DFS networks. I wanted the newer firmware feature of automatically reconnecting to wifi when it occasionally loses connection. But I havent yet managed to get DFS to work on new firmware, or on older firmware either.

Following the guide How to connect to a DFS network.zip (69.8 KB) doesnt seem to work either on new firmware, or on older firmwares. I wonder if a few years ago when it worked I did something differently, or why this isnt working:

This is what I get in Putty:

root@GL-AR750:~# uci set wireless.radio0.doth='1'
root@GL-AR750:~# uci set wireless.radio0.country='US'
root@GL-AR750:~# uci set wireless.radio0.channel='104'
root@GL-AR750:~# uci commit wireless
root@GL-AR750:~# wifi
root@GL-AR750:~# logread | grep DFS
Sun Apr 9 12:39:38 2023 daemon.notice hostapd: wlan1: interface state HT_SCAN-> DFS
Sun Apr 9 12:39:38 2023 daemon.notice hostapd: wlan1: DFS-CAC-START freq=5500 c han=100 sec_chan=1, width=1, seg0=106, seg1=0, cac_time=60s
root@GL-AR750:~#

Has anyone else managed this?

Many thanks

Hi,

If you require join/repeat DFS WiFi in the AR750, please downgrade the firmware to 3.x version.
AR750 will not be supported the DFS channel in the 4.x version.

Hi - I don't have an AR750, but on the A1300 (Slate Plus, also not DFS certified) with 4.5.x firmware you can Join 5GHz networks on DFS channels as a Station using LuCi by following the process HERE . You won't be able to Repeat on the 5GHz DFS channel but the 2.4GHz AP will still work for downstream devices. There's probably a way to script this, but for me using LuCi is simple and works. Hope it solves your problem...
