im trying to connect to my phone’s hotspot(e, excuse me. im connected to the hotspot as the infographic on the system’s mainpage indicates and my phone indicates too) . the hotspot works fine for anything other device.
its setup in router mode. it is showing it is connected to my phone’s hotspot. the cat5e is plugged into a lan on the router and into my PCI NIC’s only ethernet port.
google.com wont load. im acsessing the menus/systemGUI via the cat5e connection; not via wifi.
yes it is in repeater mode. i know this because i see “repeater options [settings gear icon]” on the main page by where my phone’s hotspot is indicated as connected. the hotspot’s name and green circle pic are displayed.
when pinging 8.8.8.8 via bash’s command ping it says:
"From 192.168.43.114 icmp_seq=1(and a secondline with same text with just a 2 here…) Destination Net Unreachable
… the tower computer is a legaly salvaged thinkcentre m92p atx tower used at a panera bread, what im getting at is i hope the NIC doesnt have some security protection?? in 5 hours i can check with a whole different computer if its the NIC doing funky business. but i dont think this is the case. the computer’s drive was replaced and its running ubuntu right now just to get the thing working first
Luci ERROR: not installed yet!
“the router failed to reach the software repository”
e, yeah i cant install it… it is as though the box isnt reaching anything past my phone. i wonder if the ‘country code’(??) isnt correct after reading Repeat Failure - GL.iNet Docs
i can reach a portal page for the xfinity wifi hotspot but dont have credentials to get past that. so that far works. my phone is a govt prepaid phone from china and im sure there is some clandestine wares somewhere on it; maybe the router sees an odd DNS reroute? idk
i will take the router and my laptop(differnt device, known to work) to the library and see if its my phone
are you refering to an iphone app called dns bypass (whichsace is not relevant, i dont use an iphone)
or are you referring to me editing etc/hosts to bypass a dns lookup?? whichcase, i entered in an ip adress, googles, 8.8.8.8 and that like bypasses dns lookup.
im not gettin ya (e, single dad here. pardon the punctuation and simple responces. im multitasking through life)
i have been speaking with alzhao on facebook and have discovered this problem is due to my Maryland government free phone is blocking the router. how i dont know yet. so this is solved. the box works fine on neighbors hotspot.
