KVM Switch Control

I have an ezcoo KVM switch that has a micro USB control port. I’ve enabled the PiKVM web interface on my comet PoE and attempted to follow the steps from this PiKVM documentation: ezCoo managed multiport KVM switch - PiKVM Handbook

However, when I plug my USB cable into the comet, it never gets recognized as a ttyUSB device. I’m wondering if the drivers are missing? Or something… It’d be great to have this capability, since the hotkey switching work arounds are not great and break navigation in BIOS or force disabling of mass storage.

Any tips or suggestions are welcome.

Our product was not initially designed to used with KVM switch. So there might be some unexpected issue taken. Sorry, we cannot make solution for this use case.

I've tested similar products before, and they do work. The only possibility I can think of is the USB TTY driver—I only compiled the common drivers. I'll provide you with a firmware that includes all the drivers, and you can try again.

I have the same exact situation and need, could I possibly get a repost of the image?

Nope, I can’t find it anymore.

Hi,

If you are looking for KVM switches or related features, you can follow our Comet X products.

You mean the GL.iNet Comet X (GL-RM4PE? It is exactly what I need, but unfortunately, it is not available, and my customer needs this functionality immediately, at least until it is released. Any help you could offer would be appreciated.

Would you at least be willing to tell me how to recompile them into the image myself, I think it’s well within my skillset, I just need to know which serial drivers I need.

If you know the model of the serial port driver you need, I can compile a firmware for you.And also tell me which product you have.

Although as is the case with a lot of these devices, the actual electronics may differ, even between members of the same make and model. i sincerely hope you can help. Thank you for trying!

RM1 has already built-in common USB to UART drivers. If you are certain that it does not work, you can plug it into the USB host port of the RM1 and then send me the debug log.

I have tinkered with it for hours, and from what I can tell, it doesn’t seem like the port functions as described, though it shows up /dev/ttyUSB0, and says it is a uart of some type, though I am not in front of the system right now to get the rest of the information.

I would be glad to provide the debug logs if you’re willing to look at them, just tell me how to generate the logs you’d require, at the verbosity you would need.

Thanks!!
