LAN won't find IoT devices Spotify

Hello,

I'm new to this forum but I've searched many times here and on google, but I have a problem I can't figure out.

I have many devices (like most of you) connected through WiFi. I bought the Flint 2 for there privacy and security. I run the latest OTA update on my Flint2 and LuCi.

Now I've created an IoT network (2.4GHz) and of course my normal network (5GHz).

Now everything works just fine. In every app the IoT devices are visable from my normal network. E.g. refrigerator, dishwasher, doorbell.

The only problem is on Spotify and Google Home it won't show any of my WiFi devices to stream to. Only when I connect my phone to the same IoT WiFi it works to stream to my soundbar or google home speakers. But I want to connect with them from my normal 5GHz network.

This happens in all apps regarding to speakers. Eg google speakers, Samsung soundbar.

I see many old topics regarding this but non from 2026

I don’t have my router setup this way currently but I suspect in your case that:

  • Devices that work are registered to a cloud server and discovery is relayed through that server to show status
  • Devices that don’t work (Google speakers, soundbar) rely on mDNS discovery which don’t normally work cross-subnet

Apparently there are ways to broadcast mDNS between subnets with some extra daemons, but I don’t know whether GL.inet can do this or not.

Yes thanks I've read about mdns but it’s nearly impossible to set this up and configure it on the Flint 2 router
