Logging and stats - RAM or Flash?

I am curious to know how the logs files of certain applications are handled. For example, the stats and logging that's generated via Adguard home, is that information stored in RAM? Could it be stored in RAM and then saved when a reboot command is triggered?

Router level logging etc, are they stored in RAM?

Can we modify any non critical logs to save in RAM or even just stop the logs if there of minor importance?

The reason I ask these questions is because of the embedded flash, it's not like we can just swap out a hard drive for example and reinstall when they eventually go bad.

I don't know what the read/writes values are in terms of longevity but my guess is the product would be obsolete before we even reached the point of the flash going bad.

AdGuard logs are stored on the memory storage.
All logs about the device itself (kernel log, etc.) is already in RAM and flushed by reboot.

Adguard holds a fair bit of information and obviously constantly writing about the queries being processed, I know I can disable stats and logs within adguard but they can be useful. Any guides to possibly move the adguard logs / stats to ram that you know of?

I am probably overthinking the whole writes limits etc but again, if a pi goes bad you just swap the SD card and re flash, that's not possible here.

Guess this will help you, but never tried nor it's supported by GL:

Thanks I will give it a read. I suppose we are backed by the 2 year guarantee if the device should fail. I am using my brume 2 as my main router so it will constantly be getting hit with writes from adguard home so I guess time will tell.

Still be interesting to see if the glinet staff have any further input on the matter, they must have factored in any potential issues with writes killing the internal flash like it can happen when using a pi and SD card. I just always associate internal flash similar to that of a SD card in terms of quality/longevity.

Thanks for your interest in GL products.

There is the eMMC chip in the Brume 2 as the flash storage.

GL have used eMMC chips in some of our previous products, there have been no reports of this hardware issue. Please feel free to use it. Besides, it has a 2-year warranty as it is used normally.
