Monitor connected to KVM blacking out intermittently

Hello,

My comet pro kvm has an issue where it is intermittently blacking out the display that is plugged into it. I ordered it through the kickstarter so I am not sure if this is a problem of early hardware revision.

Troubleshooting steps taken:

-Switching cables out for others

-Switching the output ports on my pc, trying both my graphics card and mobo hdmi ports and using a DP adapter to try there as well.

-connecting display directly to the ports without the kvm. This resolved the issue so I am inclined to believe the issue is with the kvm.

Connected display is a Wacom Cintiq 13

Hi Ckenn, I need to checkout the comet pro software version and the logs file thanks

Do you just need a log or do I need to recreate the issue and generate a log then?

Current Version: V1.8.2 release1Latest (Copy pasted from the dashboard)

Also recorded video of the behavior as well, meant to include in the original post: https://youtu.be/ckh2i05zu-k

I exported log files right after the screen blacked out twice in a short period of time, which file do I need to upload from the folder?

Hi Ckenn, just upload the entire zipped archive directly,no need to pick a specific file from inside it.

system_logs_20260428_192140.zip (140.5 KB)

Here is the log file I exported yesterday

Thank you for your patience. After reviewing the log files from your device, I noticed that the video change interrupt flag is being triggered very frequently. This indicates that the HDMI input signal is highly unstable — it keeps disconnecting and reconnecting. I believe this is the primary reason for the intermittent black screens you're seeing.

If you don't mind, I'd like to ask a few questions about your current setup to help us narrow this down:

1.Are both the KVM and the controlled computer using their original power adapters?

2.What is the configuration of the controlled computer? Does it use a discrete graphics card? In some cases, an underpowered PSU can cause video signal instability.

If you have access to another computer, I recommend testing the KVM with a different video source to see if the black screen issue still occurs.

Let me know your findings. We'll continue from there.

Yes they are using original power supplies. I also tried swapping between CPU and GPU outputs for the KVM as well.

Other Monitor is a Samsung 49” G9 Odyssey Which I have run as a split monitor configuration and unsplit with the same intermittent blacking out results. I have another monitor I can test out when I get home tonight in place of the Wacom monitor.

Should I try swapping out the HDMI cable that connects the KVM to the PC? I had originally thought the problem might be from the KVM to the monitor so I do not believe I have tried swapping the other cable. I am using the cable that the KVM came with for that connection.

Quick update here, I plugged in a 1440p monitor to the kvm and left it plugged in for a few hours with a similar workload to what I typically have going on. In that time I had no intermittent blackouts. Afterwards I swapped back to my Wacom as it is part of my workflow. In the time since plugging it back in I have not had a screen blackout problem. This weekend I will attempt to do a live stream as that was one of the workloads in which I noticed the issue the most due to using the screen to monitor my stream and chat and will post another update afterwards.
