This is the second time I tried to online upgrade from v4.3.10. First attempt some months ago to .11. Led blinking for two hours. Rebooted and forgot about it. Today the same with .17. Configuration is vanilla. Changed the WiFi password only. I can’t be sure, because don’t know how to convert timestamps yet, but in crash logs I spotted a kernel panic. Also something being compiled perhaps. Anybody with the same experience?
So after some time it does not respond, if you reboot the router, it comes with old firmware, right?
Exactly. WiFi not available, with cable connection couldn’t access admin web page. After it was obvious didn’t work simply unplugged and re-plugged the power cord.
So only way is to use uboot to reflash the firmware. Pls let me know if after you do this if the wifi is still working.
MT1300 use 32MB nor flash and is very slow when changing firmware. But should not brick easily if no power cut.
Re-starting my comment.
Where’s sysupgrade
log file? Would like to understand where is it failing. Before wiping it via uboot. Also the comment about having functional WiFi after the upgrade to .17 is not very promising.
When it is failed it does not have a way to get log.
Could I run it manually against the new firmware file and see what is happening?
Definately you can try agian.
On the condition I disconnected device from internet access and employed the local method of updating, vs the online method, it did work this time.
