[MT3000] Cascade VPN router-client (DNS?) problem only on Wireguard (openVPN works)

Dear friends,

I bought a GL-MT3000 with the purpose to have enough power for a decent VPN speed and to use a double VPN. I use as provider NordVPN.

The router is correctly configured, it properly connects through OpenVPN and WireGuard both. Connection is fine.
The second VPN is installed locally on the laptop, using the NordVPN standard protocol NordLynx.

When double VPN are on, and I use on the MT3000 the OpenVPN, it works fine. On the opposite, with WireGuard it looks like the addresses are not resolved! It may be a wrong DNS configuration, but honestly don't know. With both configs, the set DNS (Network->DNS) is the same nordvpn standard 103.86.96.100.

I tried also with another laptop with Zscaler and showed me the same issue.

I would prefer to use WireGuard, since it is more performant than OpenVPN.

Some hint? I'm sure I am missing a trivial thing but I have no glue.

My best!
Akka

Hello,

  1. What is the network topology?
  2. Probably the MTU, the second VPN is larger than the first VPN

Thank you Bruce,
It was set a strange default MTU setting on Wireguard.
I set a correct one and now it is working.

Best!
