MT6000 5Ghz Band Disconnecting my Phone

I have a Poco F6 Pro with Qualcomm SD8 Gen2 SoC and it keeps disconnecting with the 5Ghz band for unknown reasons. This only happened when I updated to

4.7.0-op24	Beta	2024-12-09

My 5Ghz is on 160mhz with auto channel enabled, US country, and default security mode. Theres no other special setup included. The 2.4Ghz band also works fine.

Hello,

Thanks for your check, I have submitted this issue.

Is the same situation for other 5GHz clients?
Is this Poco F5 pro a WiFi6 or WiFi5 connection?
If the router is switch to ac (no ax) mode, will it work normally?

It is currently during the good Chinese New Year period in China, and R&D engineers are on vacation, may need to wait until they come back after the holiday to check this issue.

We will resume operations at full capacity starting February 5th.

Happy holidays!

Good day! I think that it was related to wifi channel since I tried reflashing and using the latest beta instead and the deauth thing still happened. When I tried to manually set the DFS channel, it got fixed.

Thanks, I will ask R&D to check this.

Good day!
We have analyzed the log you provided and found that "AP-STA-POSSIBLE-PSK-MISMATCH" appears in the log you provided.

This is generally only printed when the wireless password is incorrect. Did you connect with the wrong password at that time?
If you are sure that you did not enter the wrong password at that time, then please tell us the steps to reproduce the problem and provide more details.

Thank you very much.

Thats the thing. Ive been using my same password and SSID for a long time now and I haven't changed it. When i try to check the logs, theres a lot of DEAUTH errors. I need to restart my phones wifi or wait for a while until I can connect to 5Ghz again. I also did several forget and reconnects thinking that it might be related to some old data stored by the phone.

I only updated my router to 4.7.* with fresh settings and, set bandwidth to 160MHz and then set the region to US.

Again, this will only happen if I leave my Channel to Auto and the usual channel that its using is Channel 36. However, since I manually set it to Channel 120, the bug didn't happen again even once. Also, 2.4ghz is fine even with auto channel.

P.S.
Reset or re flash doesn't work either. The bug simply comes back again. This is also present for both of the latest OpenWRT and MTK beta versions.

Do you mean is that if there is a problem, if you restart the phone's wifi, you can connect to 5G normally (even if 5G is now 160MHz bandwidth and auto channel).

After you forget and reconnect, can your phone connect to 5G wifi normally?

For both of the questions, yes. But after a while (around 5-10 minutes) the DEAUTH bug will happen again. Manually reconnecting without restart / forget & reconnect will also let me access the 5Ghz again but the cycle continues.

Hello, misuzu.
Good Day. I apologize for the late reply. We've spent the last few days trying to reproduce the problem you're having, as you describe it, but unluckily we weren't able to reproduce it. If it's convenient, could you help gather some more information by following the steps below:

  1. SSH to the device's background (you can use the Teraterm tool), execute logread -f& cat /proc/kmsg &
  2. execute i=0; while true;do iw dev;echo -e "\n\n======== i=$i ========\n\n";i=$((i+1));sleep 5;done
  3. You can then try to reproduce the problem, if the problem arises, please send us the logs collected by Teraterm and let us know the time when the problem occurred.

thanks a million!

Will do that but using the latest beta version. Thanks!
