MT6000 Flint 2 DFS WiFi issue

I have a really weird issue on my Flint 2 using DFS 5GHz wifi channels.

I live in the UK and have my router set to Channel 100 using 160MHz bandwidth. I have noticed after a period of time, the wifi channel switches to either CH36 or 44.

Now this could be due to radar detection, although I cannot seem to prove this in the logs. The router never returns to CH100 though which it should do?

I have tried CH100, 126 and set it to AUTO. Makes no difference.

I have never had DFS Radar issues at this house before using my old Asus routers. A quick wifi scan shows other local routers running in the DFS range.

Is there a way I can see what the Flint 2 is actually doing? Why it is flipping the channel?

I am running 4.7.0 BETA at the moment but this has been happening since I bought the router on 4.5.8.

It is also possible that it is not an DFS radar issue, but rather other routers or devices that is using the DFS channel and causing high occupancy rate. In such cases, Flint2 will automatically switch to another channel to ensure signal quality and rate.

Can try op24-4.6.4 firmware to see if the open-source WiFi driver shows the experience you're expecting?

Others, if the ISP speed is not very big, the WiFi bandwidth can try to 80MHz and use the Ch100

I don't think it is a radar issue as I used an Asus router here for years on CH100 without issue.

There are two routers on CH100 but they're not close in proximity. I am not sure the Flint 2 will find those when doing a wifi scan. I only see them when by a window and the signal is very weak. There is another router on CH154 which isn't actually permitted without license in the UK.

Yes sure I will try OP24. Can I flash that firmware using the common upgrade method through the GUI like I would on GL-inet firmware?

I want to try and stay on 160MHz if I can as I have a 1.1Gbps connection.

Yes you can flash via the upgrade page or uboot just like any other firmware versions. Just make sure to start fresh since Op24 is different to the proprietary variant.

So install as normal and then factory reset and start fresh?

Just don't check "Keep settings" while updating - this will result in a fresh installation.

I have now flashed with the Op24 firmware.

First thoughts, the DFS radar scan is a lot quicker than on 4.7.0.

I will report back if the channel changes again.

Nearly a month on, the router is still running on CH100 so it seems the switch to OP24 has done the job.

Will upgrading to 4.6.6 OP24 have a negative inpact?

Should not, but take a backup of your config before.
