Hi, I am running TS 1.86.0 on kernel 5.4.238 as the router for my home LAN and trying to use the exit node on TS 1.84.0 at the 'office' which is a Linux VM (Ubuntu 24.04) in Azure and has a working exit node for any device client (macOS, iOS, AppleTV, Windows all work fine).
I tried the web interface configuration and all is green, but all network traffic, verified with tracert, stops dead at the exit point. Tried the DNS override thing, didn't make a difference. I get name resolution in SSH and traceroute stops cold at the exit node IP address or doesn't reach it I suppose.
Is there something I need to do on the exit node to allow traffic from another router that is totally not a problem when connecting from a device with the app installed?
I can give the wiki article another go, but I would want to know how to make sure it's in a ready state before I do that because last try failed big time.
I don't use TailScale but it's probably due for an update. Beyond that there may be a script that needs tweaking or an addition to your /etc/rc.local or crontab. If you're using Ubuntu then you should translate that cronjob to a SystemD .timer:
May I know if the ping 8.8.8.8 or ping www.google.com is reachable?
Try curl https://ip.gs and curl https://ip.me
Generally there should be no need to configure the exit node (as long as ubuntu is enabled and hosted as an exit node, and approve is used as an exit node on the Tailscale dashboard). In the description above, we know that other devices such as Mac OS/iOS/Windows is able to use this exit node and work fine.
May I know if MT6000 subnet is already approved in the Tailscale dashboard? The MT6000 also have to approve subnets when it enables exit node.
Hi Bruce, how do you want me to test the pinging and Curl? With Tailscale turned on but the exit node NOT selected? That works fine, I can tell you. When the node IS selected, everything stops. When the node is not selected, all traffic is routing out the WAN connection direct to internet.
@TheLedZepplin - have you been able to resolve this issue?
I am having the same issue with an Ubuntu server being configured as exit node. I can use that exit node from my Windows device or phone with no issues. However, when I set Ubuntu as custom exit node from Flint 2 router, it does not work.
I don’t think this is a firewall issue with Flint 2, because when I set another custom exit node that’s not Ubuntu it works just fine.
