Mudi 7 Standalone 5G

Can anyone confirm their Mudi 7 connects with 5G SA?

I have been told my EE business sim is 5G+ enabled but can not 100% prove it has been provisioned for it. Connection is still erratic with some SIM registration issues. I may go into a retail EE store and ask if I can try a SIM they know to be SA provisioned but fearful they will say the GL.inet is not a supported device they sell.

LTE is still the primary anchor, 5GNSA n78 is added as secondary carrier.

Hi

The Mudi 7 supports 5G SA, and we have also verified that it works correctly with local carriers during our testing.

As for whether it can work with EE, you may need to check the following:

  1. Whether 5G SA is enabled for your EE SIM plan.
  2. Whether EE provides 5G SA coverage in your current location.
  3. Whether the specific 5G SA bands deployed in your area are supported by the Mudi 7.

A simple way to verify this would be to move the EE SIM card into another device, such as a smartphone, and check whether it is able to connect to a 5G SA network.

EE SIM in iPhone shows toggles enabled for 5G Standalone and 5G Voice over 5G Standalone thus the SIM is provisioned for it

The Mudi 7’s MBN is

Commercial-EE MBN version 202302241 which predates EE’s 5G SA rollout?

Could you share a photo to show us the cell info (e.g. cell id, frequency bands, etc) on the iPhone? This information can be found by dailling *3001#12345#* on the iPhone.

The dashboard toggle not working on ios26 to bring up other info

EE SIM tested in iPhone 15 Pro.

Field Test Mode:
Network Capabilities = SA
5G Standalone enabled
VoNR enabled

Same SIM in Mudi 7:

Modem Firmware:
RG650VEU00ADR02A04G8G

MBN:
Commercial-EE
202302241

AT+QNWPREFCFG="mode_pref"
AUTO

AT+QNWPREFCFG="nr5g_disable_mode"
0

AT+QENG="servingcell"
NR5G-NSA only

Forcing SA-only:
AT+QNWPREFCFG="nr5g_disable_mode",2

Result:
LTE only, no SA registration.

Is there a newer EE MBN profile or modem firmware supporting EE UK 5G Standalone?

The circled part of the image shows the EE SIM card is currently on LTE, not 5G

Please turn off the Wi-Fi on the phone and re-enter Field Test Mode to check if it will connect to 5G SA at your current location. If it connects, we'll then look into the router's settings

Field test mode now showing SA + NSA with 5G n78 and LTE which looks very much like NSA 5G.

Sim is provisioned for SA which is why I was asking if anyone had successfully connected to SA 5G on EE on the Mudi?

Guess my next stop with be the EE store and try one of their known good SA sims?

The iphone is likely using 5G NSA. We have tested on Mudi and confirmed it supports EE 5G SA. You might want to check with EE to see if 5G SA coverage is available at current location, or try testing it in a different area

Hello,

I can confirm that 5G SA is working with Mudi, at least in Finland. In Finland you need a specific eSIM profile from the operator to enable the device to connect 5G SA.
