Mudi 7 T-Mobile NSA, no SA

Received and testing the new Mudi 7 with Verizon and T-Mobile.

Perplexed I cannot connect to T-Mobile 5G SA, (will connect to 5G NSA), when the Puli AX will connect to T-MO SA immediately. Same settings, configuration.

With the Mudi 7 when choosing either the Auto or 5G menu option, or, when band locking to SA bands only, it will fail every time with the network connection error. Yet when using the Puli AX in the same location, it connects immediately to SA bands 25/41/71.

I find it hard to believe the external antennas on the Puli AX are THAT much better when the devices are in the same exact location/orientation.

The only difference is that the Puli AX is running 4.7.4, whereas the Mudi 7 is running 4.8.3.

Is anyone else experiencing an issue connection to SA only with T-Mobile, or have tips/possible AT commands to test or force temporarily.

Puli AX:

  • AT+COPS=? - this command failed to produce any results (blank field)

  • AT+QSCAN=3 - this command failed to produce any results (blank field)

  • AT+QNWPREFCFG="nr5g_disable_mode",2 result = (blank field)

  • AT+QNWPREFCFG="nr5g_disable_mode",0 result = OK

However… I did get the Mudi 7 to connect to T-Mobile 5G SA - ONLY when using SIM slot 1 though - will not connect to 5G SA when using SIM slot 2 (regardless of any commands above used).

Thus - does this mean:

  • a): T-Mobile 5G SA will ONLY work with SIM slot 1
  • b): (I do not have 5G service here with Verizon to test any 5G connection on SIM slot 2)
  • c): Is this by design, or do I have a defective unit?
  • d): Or …??

Reference: the Puli AX works perfectly with T-Mobile 5G SA in either SIM slot.

This situation seems a bit unusual.

Could you place the T-Mobile SIM back into SIM slot 2 of Mudi 7, then follow the guide below and share your device with us via GoodCloud so we can check it remotely?

Please also send us the MAC address and the router password via private message so that we can access the device.
