Mudi 7 Upload Speed issue with O2 / Telefonica

Hello, thanks for the reply.

I have now collected the cell information and performed two controlled comparisons between the ZTE MC7010 and the Mudi 7.

Both routers were tested in exactly the same physical location and using the same SIM card.

For clarity in the attached screenshots:

  • 1 = ZTE MC7010
  • 2 = Mudi 7
  • :green_circle: Green = daytime test, around 14:30
  • :yellow_circle: Yellow = night test, around 01:10

:green_circle: Daytime test, around 14:30

:green_circle: 1 - ZTE MC7010

Carrier Band EARFCN / ARFCN PCI BW RSRP RSRQ SINR
LTE PCC B7 2850 426 20 MHz -100 dBm -16 dB 20.8 dB
LTE SCC B3 1301 454 20 MHz
NR n1 432290 329 -90 dBm -11 dB 26.5 dB

Speedtest: 295 Mbps download / 75.0 Mbps upload

:green_circle: 2 - Mudi 7

AT+QCAINFO:

+QCAINFO: "PCC",2850,100,"LTE BAND 7",5,426,-102,-16,-64,18
+QCAINFO: "SCC",1301,100,"LTE BAND 3",2,454,-101,-16,-64,4,0,-,-
+QCAINFO: "SCC",432290,2,"NR5G BAND 1",329,-90,-11,2707
OK

Speedtest: 254 Mbps download / 22.2 Mbps upload

Daytime comparison

Both routers were using exactly:

  • LTE PCC: B7 / EARFCN 2850 / PCI 426
  • LTE SCC: B3 / EARFCN 1301 / PCI 454
  • NR: n1 / ARFCN 432290 / PCI 329
ZTE MC7010 Mudi 7
Download 295 Mbps 254 Mbps
Upload 75.0 Mbps 22.2 Mbps

The 22.2 Mbps upload on the Mudi 7 is actually one of the better upload results I have obtained from it with this setup.

I also checked the Mudi 7 web interface again with this B7 + B3 + n1 configuration. It reports:

  • Network type: 5G NSA
  • TAC: 77B1
  • Cell ID: 494DD0C
Band Bandwidth ARFCN PCI RSRP SINR RSRQ RSSI
B7 20 MHz 2850 426 -104 dB 19 dB -17 dBm -65 dBm
B3 20 MHz 1301 454 -99 dB - -15 dBm -66 dBm
n1 15 MHz 432290 329 -88 dB - -11 dBm -

I am including the Cell ID reported by the GL.iNet interface, but I would prefer to verify/collect the Cell ID directly from the modem. If you can provide the AT command you would like me to use, I can run it and provide the complete output.

:yellow_circle: Night test, around 01:10

:yellow_circle: 1 - ZTE MC7010

Carrier Band EARFCN / ARFCN PCI RSRP RSRQ SINR
LTE PCC B3 1301 143 -101 dBm -12 dB 5.2 dB
LTE SCC None
NR n1 432290 329 -84 dBm -11 dB 18.0 dB

Speedtest: 160 Mbps download / 39.8 Mbps upload

:yellow_circle: 2 - Mudi 7

AT+QCAINFO:

+QCAINFO: "PCC",1301,100,"LTE BAND 3",5,143,-104,-12,-70,17
+QCAINFO: "SCC",432290,2,"NR5G BAND 1",329,-101,-11,683
OK

Speedtest: 127 Mbps download / 17.7 Mbps upload

Night comparison

Again, both routers were using exactly:

  • LTE PCC: B3 / EARFCN 1301 / PCI 143
  • LTE SCC: none on either router
  • NR: n1 / ARFCN 432290 / PCI 329
ZTE MC7010 Mudi 7
Download 160 Mbps 127 Mbps
Upload 39.8 Mbps 17.7 Mbps

The download performance is reasonably close, but the upload difference remains substantial even when the serving bands, frequencies and PCIs are matched between the two routers.

For the green/daytime test, I also took a screenshot of the Mudi 7 web interface shortly afterwards, at 15:17,

The GL.iNet interface reports:

  • TAC: 77B1
  • Cell ID: 494DD0C

However, I am not sure whether the Cell ID displayed by the web interface is the most appropriate value for the detailed comparison you are requesting. If possible, could you please provide the AT command you would prefer me to use to retrieve the Cell ID directly from the modem? I can then run it on the Mudi 7 and provide the raw output.

Thank you.

Ps,i have pictures but the forum doesn’t allow me to upload them

Appreciated for the updates. The E5800 and ZTE device’s band settings look similar. I've passed this on to dev team. The cellular speed issue is a bit tricky since it often involves base station information, but we're looking into it. Thanks again for the info.

Please try disabling the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi radio and run the speed test again. While the modem is registered on LTE Band 7, check whether the performance improves.

Before the test, access the router via SSH and enable cellular debugging:

Cellular_debug.sh 1

Then enable UL MCS reporting once:

AT+QNWCFG="nr5g_ulMCS",1

During the speed test, collect the output of:

AT+QNWCFG="nr5g_mimo_info"
AT+QNWCFG="nr5g_ulMCS"
AT+QCAINFO
AT+QRSRP
AT+QRSRQ
AT+QSINR
AT+QENG="servingcell"

After the test, disable UL MCS reporting and cellular debugging:

AT+QNWCFG="nr5g_ulMCS",0
Cellular_debug.sh 0

Finally, export /tmp/cellular_manager.log and send us the log, AT command outputs, and speed-test results for further analysis.

Hi @srjuanjo were you able to fix or improve it?
