Mudi Gl-750 "freezes" and stops working after a short period of time

For the last 5 days i am facing severe problems with my MUDI GL-750. I use the Device as a Router with VPN KillSwitch and Tor activated via 5g. I have been using it for about 8 months.

In my area the mobile signal is not the best, thus i regularly got the warning “No Internet” prior on the MCU Display. If that happend, i just moved the device few meters and it worked again after some minutes. Well, this was until last week.

Now, after using the router for maximum 30 minutes two things happen:

  1. the mpu carrier doesnt show the “No Internet” warning but completly eradicates the mobile carrier name and has a large “x” on the top right corner

  1. It works fine and then it stops working but the MCU Display “freezes”. No error, nothing. But the time also freezes, meaning i notice it stops working at 18:30. i go to the router after 15 minutes, but the time it shows there is still 18:30.

i resetted the device several times via button or admin panel, no change. I went to different locations to see if it has something to do with the signal power, no difference.

the firmware i use is 3.217

“top command” via ssh says this right now (tor is not activated)

Fellas, i need your help ASAP. I have plenty of stuff to take care of and this is really holding me up ://. I love GL_iNet and recommendet it to alot of friends, first time now that i have issues that made me submit a ticket…

also: now i havent activated tor but vpn killswitch enabled for almost a hour, none of the two errors yet whatsoever. maybe this has to do with the tor config provided in the firmware?

thank you very much

Is there any reason you’re using Tor? It’s notoriously slow, even prone to dropouts, given the exit nodes are near all volunteer run out of pocket. If only for testing purposes while maintaining privacy/security I’d load a WireGuard profile onto your device. The Mudi is advertised as hitting 50 Mbps using it.

Proton VPN’s speeds ain’t the fastest thing ever given their free tier but it’s a way to remove Tor from the equation if you’re not comfortable running/troubleshooting on clearnet.

(Also, these forums support the MarkDown syntax; use three backticks for ‘code fencing’. It’ll improve readability. Eg:
