MUDI7 + Verizon Business Hotspot 100GB - unexpected behavior

Hello,
I am having some unexpected behavior using a Verizon Business “Hotspot 100GB” plan SIM in my shiny new MUDI7. This same SIM has been used for at least 8 months in a Spitz AX GL-X3000.

Initially, I couldn’t get the SIM to function at all - installed in the SIM2 slot it refused to work. I tried for over an hour and a dozen reboots, manually defining APNs etc before I finally swapped it to the SIM1 slot where it promptly connected with no manual configuration / intervention.

Unfortunately some unexpected behavior persists - initially it will connect as 4G with a warning indicating “Some device may display 4G+ as 5G”. After 2-3 minutes it will show 5G + full bars + excellent signal. All good so far.
After 5-30 minutes it will disconnect completely and repeat the process. While connected with 5G, I can pull 140mbps-200mbps down 1-3mbps up on Speedtest.net.

I tried adding external antennas I had ( Amazon.com + Amazon.com )- that improved the performance to ~250mbps down 10mbps up but the periodic disconnects persisted. Warning - do not purchase this combo for the MUDI7 - it would be easy to break the TS9 antenna ports. Compatible pigtails Amazon.com: Proxicast 12 inch TS9 to SMA Female External Antenna Adapter Cable Pigtail for 4G/5G Modems, Hotspots & Routers - Nighthawk M6/MR6500, M5/MR5100, M1/MR1100, Jetpack 8800L, 7730L (ANT-104-TS9-2PK) : Electronics arrive tomorrow.

I confirmed the APN is configured as “VZWINTERNET” and that is consistent with the Spitz AX. The T-Mobile SIM (an extra Go5G Plus line I had) is flawless, or at least was able to remain connected stably for hours on end delivering ~300mbps down ~50mbps up.

Are there any troubleshooting steps I can take here to try to chase down the cause of these disconnects? Happy to dump logging etc if that would be helpful.

All settings for the SIM are autodetected defaults -
APN: VZWINTERNET
IP Type: IPv4&IPv6
Network Type: Auto
International Data Roaming: Disabled
Protocol: (greyed out) mnet
TTL / HL / MTU all blank
Authentication: None
Enable Band Masking: not selected

Ok, after a bunch of flailing, the following config gives me a stable experience on Verizon provided I don’t connect to Wireguard:
APN: VZWINTERNET
IP Type: IPv4 (unsure if this change did anything helpful)
Network Type: Auto
International Data Roaming: Disabled
Protocol: (greyed out) mnet
TTL : 65
HL: blank
MTU: 1428
Authentication: None
Enable Band Masking: not selected

This gives me a rock solid experience on Verizon. T-Mobile is just running the stock auto-detected settings without issue.

Wireguard works beautifully on T-Mobile. I have several personal ones; over 30GB of transfer and climbing without hiccup on those. Verizon is a different experience - the reconnect cycle described above happens with insane frequency. It seems to be triggered by bulk data transfer (eg streaming a movie, sometimes an internet speedtest). General web browsing is quite reliable.
I have “PersistentKeepAlive: 25” set in the config, and in the GLiNet VPN client options I have tried “Kill Switch” both on and off, “Services from GL.iNet Use VPN” on and off, “Allow Remote Access to LAN”, and “IP Masquerading” as well. For MTU I tried 1384, 1380, and 1280 - same symptoms.

Lastly a few posts describing similar issues suggested enabling MSS Clamping in Luci (Advanced Settings) –> Network –> Firewall –> General Settings Tab –> “Edit” in the LAN row –> MSS Clamping, so I flipped that on - no change regarding this issue though.

Pretty confused what could be causing this behavior!

Hi sir, maybe you have contacted support via email. We recommend changing the router's LAN to a different network segment and trying again.

Sorry for your VZW issue, it appears there’s a new firmware to fix VZW issues: GL.iNet download center

But thank you for the TMO data results, im excited to receive mine to replace Mudi V2 and finally get 300mbs+ on TMO!!
