GL.iNet are budget routers compared to Ubiquiti. Firewall rules are pretty universal among routers of any class. Drop unsolicited packets (unless YOU enable port forwarding).
I think the cost to features ratio of GL routers is quite good. Plus, having the same UX for both home and travel is a big plus for me.

          Things may have changed in the years since but UBNT used to run a fork of the F/OSS VyOS router-OS which itself is built on the Debian Linux distro. They called it 'EdgeOS'.
AFAIK: Basically "statefull inspection" means that the (TPC) session is either initiated or does exist, when a subsequent packet is passing. I.O.W. the answer path must be the same as the initial request path. Sometimes in a network both paths differ, and this does not pass with statefull inspection active.
What's TPC? I am unfamiliar with those initials in this context.
