Multiple MLO Networks

I would like to add another MLO for the guest network.

From the UI, it does not seem to be possible.

From LUCI, it looks possible but I didn’t try it yet since i am not familiar with all the mtk-options.

Is there any way to to achieve this (Admin Panel, LUCI or cli?) and if yes, is there any documentation on this?

The exact procedure and whether a second MLO SSID is supported depend on the router’s Wi-Fi chipset and firmware branch. Please provide the router model and full firmware version shown under System → Overview; this will determine whether LuCI/UCI can create another MLO group and which options are required.

Until then, avoid applying the apparent LuCI configuration: incomplete MLO settings across the participating radios can disable those Wi-Fi interfaces, and later changes in the GL.iNet Admin Panel may overwrite manual wireless configuration.

I am using a Flint 4

Model: GL.iNet GL-BE14000
Architecture: ARMv8 Processor rev 0
OpenWrt Version: OpenWrt 21.02-SNAPSHOT
Kernel Version: 5.4.281
Firmware-Version: v4.9.2

On the Flint 4 with firmware v4.9.2, the GL.iNet Admin Panel documents one MLO Wi‑Fi network; the Guest Network is configured as separate per-band Wi‑Fi networks, not as a second MLO group. The current v4.9.x wireless documentation does not provide a supported LuCI/UCI procedure for creating an additional MLO SSID.

Although LuCI may expose related MediaTek options, that does not confirm that a second MLO group is supported by the vendor Wi‑Fi stack. Avoid applying those settings until GL.iNet staff confirm the required MLD configuration for v4.9.2, as an incomplete manual configuration could prevent the participating radios from starting or be overwritten by the Admin Panel.

Hi,

Please try connecting to the router via SSH and running the following command to add a Guest MLO SSID:

# Keep the original files for rollback.
[ -f /root/wireless.before-guest-mlo ] ||
    cp /etc/config/wireless /root/wireless.before-guest-mlo
[ -f /root/mlo.before-guest-mlo ] ||
    cp /etc/config/mlo /root/mlo.before-guest-mlo

GUEST_MLO_SSID="$(uci -q get wireless.guest2g.ssid)-MLO"
GUEST_MLO_KEY="$(uci -q get wireless.guest2g.key)"

# Generate four different local/unicast MAC addresses and avoid existing ones.
while :; do
    TAIL5="$(hexdump -n 5 -e '5/1 ":%02X"' /dev/urandom)"
    MAC2="02${TAIL5}"
    MAC5="06${TAIL5}"
    MAC6="0A${TAIL5}"
    MLDMAC="0E${TAIL5}"

wifi reload

To restore the original configuration:

cp /root/wireless.before-guest-mlo /etc/config/wireless
cp /root/mlo.before-guest-mlo /etc/config/mlo

wifi reload

That worked perfectly, thanks!
