My Beryl AX (GL-MT3000) won't update

Hello, i've tried anything to update to the newest version of the firmware V4.6.9 manual and online update it didn't work, i've tried to do it on a different device with the same result. It keeps reaching 100% but then nothing happens.

I remember i used to update without any problems.

Please help thanks.

If it fails all, you can upgrade using uboot: Debrick via Uboot - GL.iNet Router Docs 4
Please make sure that you choose the right firmware version.

But this wipes all the settings of the router right? Or is there a solution to back up those settings?

It wipes all settings which is recommended if you have issues right now.

I just upgraded my MT3000 this morning from older 3. code to 4.
I backed up my setting in luci first, then upgraded.
This worked but the router bricked when I tried to restore settings.

So I had to uboot and then re-configure everything again manually.

Confg backup and restore has NEVER worked properly for me on any of these GL-Inet routers.

Maybe it's a open-wrt thing.

Keeping settings isn't possible while updating from 3.x to 4.x

Yes, but I did not try to keep the settings. I backed up and tried to restore AFTER the upgrade.
I did click the button to NOT keep settings also.

Thanks

Restoring the settings is the same like keeping them …

Hmm that's an interesting point and I have not seen that declared anywhere, even in other threads that recommend making backups and restoring.
What you say does make sense but it does not seem to be made clear anywhere.

Anyway I will never try it again now, been bitten too many times
Thanks

As a computer/network engineer for over 20 years, I have known this most of my career; not using back up and restoring settings. It is not a knew concept, but its industries gold standard practice, for commercial products and consumer products.

Well thanks for that Denisimo but I beat you. I've got nearly 30 years as a computer/network engineer.

Thanks for telling me though, I will keep your words of wisdom in my mind.

Do you think if i skip this update and wait till the next i may be able to update to the next version? Or a uboot upgrade is a must option?

Not sure. Wait and try.

Does not work with the new update neither. I guess i have to use Uboot method.
