Network Drop on CometQ after firmware update

After update to firmware 1.8.5 Release 1 the CometQ is loosing all WiFi connections after a few minutes. No networks can be found, only a reboot can re-establish the connection.

IP is given from the router as reservation. Firmware rollback is not possible, because trying to upload the file fails since the connection is dropped before the transfer is finished.

Has anybody else experienced this? Is it possible to rollback the firmware by other means than via WiFi?

Thanks.

Hi, sorry for the trouble.

Before using USB-OTG recovery, could you please export the syslog while Wi-Fi is still connected and test on another network to see if the issue still occurs?

If the issue persists, you can roll back the firmware via USB-OTG. Please refer to this guide: How to unbrick KVM via USB OTG - GL.iNet KVM Docs

Hello,

Sorry, but it seems that the problem was with my network. I have restarted the kvm this morning and since now (late afternoon), the connection has been stable. All other devices on the lan were stable yesterday, that’s why I suspected an issue with the firmware.

Apologies again,

Oliver

Glad to know everything is working now.

Actually, I spoke too soon. This morning, the connection was lost again. I don’t see any problems with the LAN, so it seems that something triggered the kvm to loose the connection.

I have switched to a different network, will monitor it today.

To be continued…

If the issue occurs again, please export the syslog and send it to us.

Hi, please try updating the firmware and check whether the issue is resolved.

If the issue still persists, please export the syslog for this firmware version and send it to us.

Hi, We've updated the new firmware. Please try it.

Hello, I had 1.8.3 running for 24 hours and the connection was stable. Will try 1.8.5 now, but I assume that it will be working as well.

Will, let you know.

1.8.5 keeps dropping again. Could you send me a .axp file for 1.8.3 so that I can revert back to that firmware version?

Thanks.

Hi, have you tried the v1.8.6 firmware we provided this morning? If not, could you please try it first and let us know if the issue still occurs?

Hello, sorry, my mistake. I had used the wrong firmware version (1.8.5). I have now used 1.8.6., seems to be stable for now.

Glad to hear that. Please keep an eye and check if the WiFi issue is resolved on v1.8.6. If it still happens, export the syslog and send it to us.

Hello, 5 minutes after sending the last message, the disconnects started again.

Hi, please try this latest beta firmware.

Hello, no success, disconnecting again.

Attached the last set of log files.

Thanks for the logs. We reviewed them but didn't find any abnormal Wi-Fi disconnections.

Could you test with a different network, such as another Wi-Fi or a mobile hotspot, to see if the issue persists?

Hello, I have been running 1.8.1 Release 5 for the last 12+ hours and the connection has been stable. I had tried 1.8.6 with a different network, different AP, but the result was the same: disconnect shortly after connecting.

Sorry to hear that the new firmware still didn’t resolve the issue.

Could you please update to v1.8.6 again, reproduce the issue, then export the device logs and send them to us for further investigation?
