Network Link Conditioning (dumynet)

While I am waiting for my new Beryl units to arrive, I was researching similar utility like Mac OS X has to simulate various network conditions for testing. I found this project dummynet. Looking at Github it seems like OpenWRT support is listed.

  1. Did anyone tried it?
  2. Do I have to manually install it from Github, or is there a package for it that I could install?
  3. Does it work?
  4. Would development consider adding this to Application settings with simple configurations like Mac OS X does above? Is it possible for me to create a UI plugin under Applications?
  5. Perhaps there is some other better utility like that someone can recommend?

Most of my development is networking applications. Having such an option, where I can drop the router in between and play with different network scenarios is very important. Perhaps there are others like me?

Thank you

i would be careful about using it.

  1. has not been updated in over 5 years.
  2. the readme file is from 2012
  3. the website is not secure

Are there any other solutions to allow to adjust/simulate bandwidth, latency, etc?
Or should this question be really posted on OpenWRT website?

openwrt has a great helpful forum,
when i have such questions, i use that forum.
