Most of what I buy Comet KVMs for is to do hardware level stuff on remote PCs, like change BIOS settings, boot from a USB stick to reinstall Windows, that sort of thing. Once Windows is up and running we have plenty of other remote control tools available, but this is the one that lets me see and fix problems with computers don't boot. For most of these use cases, I need to trigger a reboot or power-on on the remote device, then sit staring at it and repeatedly tapping the Esc or F12 or F2 or something until it gets me into a BIOS or a boot menu. I'd love a button I could press in the Toolbox that would do:
- Press this key (like shortcut)
- Press it every 0.5 seconds or 1 second or 2 seconds
- Press it 50 times or 100 times, or forever until I click Cancel
- Keep pressing it even when I move my focus off the GLKVM window to reply to an email or something. Even if I close the GLKVM window. Like the mouse jiggle feature, just keep doing the thing.
I would miss the BIOS hotkey windows much less often if I could do this, and I wouldn't waste as much time staring fixedly at the GLKVM window, tapping Esc and waiting for the "Loading boot menu" text to show up on screen. ![]()
