Non-connecting AX6000 in the hands of a total newb

Hello,

I’ve always used the router I was sent by my ISP in the past but decided to buy one of these because it’s said to be a “VPN router”.

So I just tried to power it up and connect it. Powering up: OK. Unplugged the cable coming from the wall unit to the ISP’s router … and plugged into the back of the AX6000. Entered the password (NB tried for both “5G” and non-5G signals). In both cases I get “Internet not available”.

Both these networks appear as “available networks” (i.e. available WiFi networks).

The socket into which I plugged the cable was the “WAN” socket. Then I tried “WAN/LAN1”. And then I tried “LAN2”.

No internet in any case.

Any idea what the next step is? If I have to upgrade something e.g. firmware, can you please explain what to do as to an 8-year-old (always bearing in mind that the AX6000 is currently not connected to Net)?

Your ISP might be using some method of authentication on the ISap provided router right? Have you emulated the same settings on AX6000?

Hi

I assume the AX6000 you mentioned refers to our MT6000 model.

In most cases, an ISP-provided connection (via Ethernet) is not plug-and-play and requires some configuration before it can be used properly.

We recommend that you:

  1. Check with your ISP to find out what is required when using a third-party router, or search online using your ISP’s name + “third-party router” to see if others have shared guidance
  2. Then configure the MT6000 accordingly based on the guide below
First time setup - GL.iNet Router Docs 4
    Ethernet - GL.iNet Router Docs 4

If you run into any issues, please let us know:

  1. What configurations you’ve already tried
  2. The name of your ISP

Thanks both … will get on to my ISP

Concerning the model: yes, the leaflet says GL-MT6000 / Flint 2. The sticker on the device says “AX6000 Wireless Router”.
