O2 Germany sim not registered

I had this issue last night with Smarty SIM when I arrived to Germany. I created a new profile with "mob.asm.net" as APN and changed profile and it registered fine now working. Try changing APN settings?

I contacted O2 support via live chat. They told me that I had an old plan which did not include 5G Plus. Back in 2019 when i bought the plan, German carriers had introduced 5G (NSA). Now, in 2024, they have 5G SA, and this is referred to as 5G Plus. In order to get 5G Plus, I have to buy the new plan. It has nothing to do with the router, the APN, or any IMEI settings.

I lied, the issue still appears even after getting the newest plan with 5g sim, i also contacted the o2 support, they told me the cell tower you are connecting does not exist (i think he lied or does not know)

so the question remains, wth is the issue?

is o2 germany 5g supported?

  • Modem: GL-X3000 Spitz AX
  • Modem Name: RM520NGLAAR03A03M4G
  • Version: 4.0
  • Firmware Type: 0408release4

i am 100% sure the sim card is working for 5g and is active.

i would really appreciate it if you could help me using goodcloud

Hello, I'm also with o2 Germany and have the x3000, unfortunately I can hardly speak English, so I run everything through the translator, so sorry for the bad translation! Do you have a "Datasim" card from o2 or a "Multisim" card? If you have a Datasim card, like me, you shouldn't be surprised! According to o2, the Datasim cards are not activated for 5gplus, only the Multisim cards!

How do i know that? I have o2 test card for unlimited max (no limit, no data volume)

O2 says It is multicard

After many headaches, I found out the issue.

I entered this in SSH mode:

gl_modem -B 0001:01:00.0 SAT sp "AT+QSCAN=3,1"

The response:

+QSCAN: "NR5G",262,01,154570,478,-97,-11,30,0,4F3104701,802A,52,28,15,2,-
+QSCAN: "NR5G",262,01,431070,421,-88,-11,38,0,4F328B101,802A,106,1,17,2,-
+QSCAN: "LTE",262,03,1600,242,-,-,-,0,17C3019,C954,-,3

After looking up the 262 MCC and MNC 01 at mcc-mnc.com (type in the search field: "262, 01"),

I found out that the cell tower did not have O2 as a provider; it only had Telekom. That is why it threw a SIM card not registered error.

You can easily recognize a multicard, if you can make calls with it, it's a multicard. If not, it's a datacard (without 5gplus)! The datacard can only do 5gNSA I also keep having the problem with o2 and the x3000 that the modem switches off!

i have messaged you already
