Hello
I'm trying to configure my 5G router and I still can't get an interesting speed.
My 5G phone, with the same SIM card, has 4 times better performance. When I switch to the router, the performance collapses drastically.
I updated the firmware and everything seems to be configured correctly...
The router connects to 5G NSA and not to 5G SA, is that why?
I can't find a solution.
It is doubtful that you will ever get the same speeds out of your router as you will your phone. This is due to many factors and you can find more in depth answers as to why on this forum but basically it’s due to limitations on the modem module in the router and aggregation.
You can try to force your router into SA mode by using this AT command: AT+QNWPREFCFG="nr5g_disable_mode",2
This will only remain effective until you reboot the router or change the command back to SA/NSA modes.
According to T-Mobile, not all their towers even support SA mode yet so you may want to check with your service provider but realize that the module in this router has limitations. I’m lucky to get 80-100Mbps on my router but I can’t even get 5 on my phone at my current location. However, when I’m at my other property, I get over 900 on my phone and only 600Mbps on the router.
More than likely, your going to have to be happy with what you get. You can play with band locking but I’ve never gotten better speeds than what the router originally will get upon a reboot. Make sure you are running the latest router firmware and Modem module firmware. They are two separate things! I have had rock solid performance for weeks now and for the first time am happy with the performance of this router without the need of reboots.
Thank you very much for your response. I have just carried out your procedure, and the router is only positioned on 4G+.... It does not go towards 5G SA.
Regarding updates, I updated the firmware and the RM520NG module. I think I'm on the latest versions.
for the module, I am on the version: RM520NGLAAR03A03M4G_01.201.01.201
for the firmware, I am on the version: openwrt-x3000-4.0-0412release3-0925-1727240693
If you have any other ideas...
Router firmware 4.4.12 is good. I'm running 4.4.13 Beta.

Go ahead and download

I don't think that it will make much of a difference with this newer firmware, but give it a shot because there was a change to the frequency rate of channel N41 which is an SA band. Report back what you come up with.
