Opal sft1200 adding a lot of latency

Hello,

May I know what version firmware does the SFT1200 installed?

What is the devices connection topology image?

Does the latency you mean the LAN, WLAN, or WAN?

It was fixed by keeping the "internal wifi" on the band I am repeating on enabled. Very weird right? But an easy fix.

I am hiding the SSID as I don't use the wifi other than to login to my AP.

As soon as I disable the 5ghz one the pings go between 50-300ms instantly. And as soon as I enable that wifi again it's fixed. Maybe you're not supposed to turn them off, but since I don't use them I turned them off.

Easy enough fix once you know about it, no idea what's causing it. Just happy it's fixed!

I can reproduce this issue both on the latest stable and beta.

Short version, to reproduce it:

  • setup in router mode, login to an AP
  • disable both internal 2.4ghz and 5ghz wifi networks
  • you will now have latency until you enable the band you logged into the AP with on again

I can easily reproduce this.

I would expect nothing to change when disabling the internal wifi networks, I am not using them so why leave them enabled. And everythign still works with them disabled, just with an added 200ms of latency.

Please try to reproduce and let me know if you need more information.

Hello,

I've reproduced this issue and it does increase a little bit of delay, but the delay won't increase a lot as you said, not more than 100ms.

We continue to do some checks.

Reproduce process:

  1. SFT1200, as the Repeater and connects to the primary router 5GHz WiFi.

  2. Router 5GHz WiFi enabled:

  3. Manually disabled Router 5GHz WiFi:

I'm glad it wasn't my environment, for me the results are more "dramatic" in a sense of higher peaks but also longer periods with normal pings.

It all goes away as soon as the internal wifi is enabled though. Which is the weird part to me and what caused me to post it.

I disable them because I think disabling the internal wifi will free up airtime for the repeater and make things better not worse but it's not a big issue. The fix is easy too! Just wanted to report it.
