Opal + TailsOS

So I've connected to Tor (in Tails) on a different router in the past, Beryl AX, through tails and it worked just fine.

Now, I'm trying to do the exact same thing, but with the Opal router. When I try to connect, though, I get "This local network seems to be blocking access to Tor."

Connecting to Tor through the LuCI interface works, but connecting to Tor specifically through Tails does not.

Any reason for this to happen? What can I do to get around it?

Are we correct in understanding that Tor on Opal can connect normally, but Tor on TailsOS (connected through Opal) cannot connect properly?

If so, could you please provide more details about your Tor connection settings on TailsOS?

  • Are you using “Connect to Tor automatically” mode, or the “Hide to your local network that you are connecting to Tor” option?
  • Have you already reviewed the TailsOS troubleshooting guide?
  • If Tor on TailsOS is configured to use bridges, does the connection work again?

Also, if Bery AX is used to replace Opal while keeping everything else unchanged, will Tor on TailsOS resume functioning?
