It seems that Beryl AX and Flint 2 both have firmware versions with open source drivers.
Any chance this could happen for Puli AX too? I really want EAP support.
Hi,
There is not plan about the open-source firmware for Puli.
However, EAP does not require the open-source wireless firmware, and GL-XE300 / Puli supported the EAP in v3.x firmware.
Hi Bruce,
I think you got confused just like I did, because I bought the Puli AX (the new 5G one, GL-XE3000) thinking it supported EAP just like the original Puli (the 4G one, XE-300), but it doesn't because the firmware seems to use the closed source Mediatek drivers just like Beryl AX and Flint 2. (I actually read that exact doc and misread the listed supported model as XE3000 instead of XE300. The fact the model number of these routers differs only by the number of zeros at the end is very confusing.)
However, both Beryl AX and Flint 2 now have a v4.6.0-op24 firmware version based on OpenWrt 24 using open source drivers, so I was wondering if there are plans to make one for Puli AX (and I guess Spitz AX as well since they have the same hardware AFAIK).
Yes you are right.
Puli AX comes with modem and it needs a lot of work to migrate to opensource drivers. So there is still no plans.
