OpenVPN client won't connect to internet on Beryl, works fine on other devices

I am running an OpenVPN server on my home Asus router. All my devices are able to tunnel through to the server when running the OVPN config on the OpenVPN Connect app and are able to access the internet with no issues whatsoever.

When I set up my Beryl as the client though, I get intermittent internet access and only to a few websites like Facebook and sometimes Google. Any other website will start loading and stop at 10% of the loading bar. I am able to access the internet without issues when my Beryl is connected to NordVPN with OpenVPN so I’m not sure what the problem here is.

I tried upping the MTU with mssfix or tun-mtu 1500; but that doesn’t help. I also have very basic understanding of networks and am setting all this up on native interfaces on macOS.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Can you pls use a lower mtu for the ovpn, not 1500?

Try 1380, 1340 etc.

Thanks, this helped but still having some issues. I added this to both the server and client configs and now I can access the internet although a few websites still won’t load for some reason including this forum.

tun-mtu 1350
mssfix 1320

When pinging www.speedtest.net I get this even though I can’t load the page on a browser.

10 packets transmitted, 10 packets received, 0.0% packet loss
round-trip min/avg/max/stddev = 29.385/87.976/400.861/105.280 ms

The download speeds are extremely slow and won’t go over 10mbps (Google speedtest since Ookla wouldn’t load). The Beryl speed with VPN off is about 35 mbps (tethering my cellular data), and my home internet router up and download speed is 250-300 mbps.

Tried switching the server settings from UDP to TCP after reading it helped someone else on this forum but that didn’t change anything for me.
