Im having trouble getting my ovpn file to connect. It works using an android openvpn app but wont work with glinet openvpn client. Using TorGuard glinet ovpn file.
I use an app called Wifi Tether Router from my mobile to create a hotspot. The router is in repeater mode with my mobile. Which the router does have internet and if I connecta mobile device to it and run my ovpn file with OpenVPN app it works.
Im not all that tech savvy. But ive came a long way trying to create a hotspot without hotspot plan. Never had issues with my setup until trying to use plex service and xbox live to work so I can port forward the correct ports without a PC involved.
I can change the dhcp ip through wifi tether router app only first 3 subnets and I guess it always put 254 on the last one as dhcp. If I try use my phones actual dhcp it will not work so I use a custom one every time. Helps getting network connected to different routers a bit faster.
And when i try to setup router as repeater does not work in wisp mode. Only wds. So therefore i put 8.2 to be on same subnet as dhcp if i use routers 8.1 internet dont work. Ovpn file works fine if running on android or PC connected thru router
I will try wisp and see if I can get it to connect to the internet first.
I want to be able to hook up my devices wirelessly. If i put the gl router into wds mode will the wireless gui still work? I should be able to hook up a second wireless router to the lan.
I can connect to the router wireless only with no vpn on my phone running with internet. Usb tethering I need a vpn running on my phone for router to work properly with internet.
My two options to connect to so far. Wds is only working for me I think. Maybe Im connecting it wrong in wisp mode. But ive managed to have internet with my two ways to connect.
If connected to router in wds mode from my PC and use VPN client on PC ports are opened correctly. The vpn for my ports will only work while running the client on PC. Therefore I cant use my vpn profile on mobile. It must route traffic differently. Idk
With that said. If I connect router in wds mode from my phone since I can get it work without the router doing the routing itself when its connected to my PC. Could I setup the router to port forward my traffic from my hotspot where the vpn is running. Because the router does pull the correct ipv4 from my vpn on mobile just ports dont work. Not sure of this makes much since. PC should be doing similar routing as the gl router is doing. Hopefully I am not thinking this wrong way. It sounds possible. But again I’ll try wisp later once i get back home. Maybe I’ll have better luck with the connection and solve this issue.
Would I be able to connect to my hotspot with vpn active on mobile and configure router to connect to my hotspot and setup port forward on router. PC vpn client vs mobile app client work differently I think
… apparently … I love how you post your certificates, yet block out the MAC address of your device (which
is about useless, nobody can do anything with that).
Well that isnt going to help my situation, but thanks for the security update. Which I guess makes sense a bit. Its a good thing that isn’t the right host address I use to connect to begin with. No idea what keys and certs do. Just need guidance is all.
Is a PC wifi network connection different then GLs or does a PC connect in wisp mode like a router. Just curious
