OpenWrt “upgrade” -> brick (Beryl AX)

Having real dfficulty configuring the unit to accept all lan traffic -> tailscale ->exit node. Much online reading around & trying suggested permutations of firewall.. nope. So while I’m there in the innards of Luci, I think I may as well upgrade the #OpenWrt from the installed v. 21x to the latest 24 here

Well, I get the usual warnings about not turning the power off (duh) and let it alone for ~ 20 mins. The warning’s still there, but as there is no longer any connection to the #beryl, this is now meaningless. 20 mins… should be enough for an 8.9mb install. You’d think. Restart router. Light’s are on, but nobody’s home.

Ifconfig to the lan port shows there is a connection to wlp3s0, The usb port doesn’t seem to allow access to the file system.

Any suggestions would be welcome

Hello,

Not sure if there is any problem causing upgrade vanilla openwrt firmware to fail.

If the router unable to run the OS, you need to next to the router, bring the router into uboot, and then perform the debrick operation.

Thank you Bruce.
That has done the trick & it's working again.
Though I did have difficulty trying to set up a static ip address on my PC:
Docker seems to hog everything and thwarts reconfiguration.
Ended up borrowing a Windows laptop and doing it from there.
The shame!

Yep, the Beryl AX doesn't seem to have a lot of RAM to run Docker/compose, it may affect system stability, carefully using.
