So I'm able to get my Wireguard Server set up, but I'm experiencing 25% packet loss whenever I connect a client router with the Server's Wireguard VPN.
I know it's the VPN issue because if I turn the VPN off and allow non-VPN traffic, I get 0% packet loss.
So I wonder, what could be the issues? Here's some details about my setup of my VPN Server Router:
also broadcasting a WIFI network of its own
it was in the corner of my living room which isn't a good location - I moved it near a window but it's still by a recessed balcony
I based those guesses^ on this thread but I'm unsure if it's talking about the same issue (the issue here is with my Server).
Do I need to buy an extender or just move my ServerRouter to a more exposed spot, or is there something in my ServerRouter settings that should be changed?
May I confirm that the server router, enable WG VPN server, and enable Wi-Fi, and the Wi-Fi wireless client will lose 25% packets. If the VPN server is disabled, there will be no packet loss (0%). Is that right?
If the client is wired connect to server router, and the VPN server is enabled, is there any packet loss?
It is not same as that issue. That is if enable repeater and not repeat any primary router, then the GL router Wi-Fi client will lose packets every 30 seconds. This is because when repeater is enabled and not connected, it will scan the surrounding WiFi every 30 seconds, and the scanning action will temporarily turn off itself Wi-Fi AP, thus the Wi-Fi connected device will drop.
Scroll to the bottom and fine wireguard server and select the options, there is the global MTU override box. The other way is to do a client by client adjustment via the "Wireguard Server > Profiles > Configs > (find device / config) > edit / cog icon > set more (from the "client configuration" popup, underneath the device name box) then from there you can set a MTU too.
