Physical eSIM without router software requirements

Hi,

I’m trying to compare the JMP physical eSIM with the offerings at GL.iNet. The answer quoted below mentions that eSim can be managed without additional software.

[quote="will.qiu, post:3, topic:64012"]
EIOT CLUB: [esim — GL.iNet US](GL.iNet - Connecting The World To Secure Wi-Fi)
SIMPoYo: [SIMPoYo eSIM eSIM Physical Card and SIMPoYo SIM Card. - GL.iNet](SIMPoYo eSIM eSIM Physical Card and SIMPoYo SIM Card. — GL.iNet)

Alternatively, you may use any other eSIM listed in the compatibility list.

All of these can be managed directly within the GL UI eSIM Management without requiring additional software on your phone or PC.

However I want to order an eSIM to use in my phone/laptop, without a router. Is additional proprietary software required in this case? If yes what are the options for Android/Linux? Also, is this software needed for correct function or only for initial configuration?

Thank you!

Hi,

Thank you for your question.

Our physical eSIM can also be inserted into a compatible Android phone and managed directly from the phone.
For Android devices, we recommend using the EIOTCLUB app to manage the physical eSIM.

With the EIOTCLUB app, you can recognize the physical eSIM, view eSIM information (such as EID), and manage installed eSIM profiles, including activating or switching profiles.

For Linux systems, there is no supported eSIM management solution from our side.

For Linux laptop with Debian and USB sim card reader (just a card reader, NOT modem) LPA desktop works for me to activate a physical esim and select a profile.

it say simulator, but it did actually activate the esim, and showed profiles.

if that’s helpful :man_shrugging:
