Port Forwarding Failure

I use a GL.iNET AXT1800 Slate AX router behind a basic modem connected to ADSL Broadband. Firmware is 4.7.0. I have successfully used port forwarding in the past but following a reboot of the router, after a power outage, port forwarding no longer works. I have a web service running on one of my machines that is statically assigned to a LAN IP address (192.168.xxx.xxx) running on port 80. I can reach the web service from a PC on the LAN using http://192.168.xxx.xxx with no problems.

I have set up port forwarding on the router for port 80 to route to LAN IP address http://192.168.xxx.xxx but it does not forward at all. I have used an online port scanner to check that port 80 is responding. I have reset the router firmware using the management web page and reconnected. I have configured port forwarding again. Every time I try to reach the webserver from outside my network it fails.

When checking the port forwarding again I noticed the DMZ was enabled (not by me). I switched this off but occasionally on revisiting the port forwarding page it is on again, the DMZ host IP appears as the LAN IP address of the webserver.

The issue is repeatable, I have reset the firmware three times.

How to clear this?

Hi,

Maybe you could upgrade to V4.8.0 beta. The configuration will not be retained during the upgrade. Then reconfigure port forwarding.

Try changing the port to test, 8080, 8081.

Attempting V4.8.0 failed, incompatible with this hardware. Finally fixed the problem after 3 complete rebuilds - from scratch and not using backups of a previous working config. I started by downgrading by one firmware version, then upgrading it to V4.7.0, then reconfiguring to suit my needs. Now all is well.

Hands up - I could have been making the same mistake a number of times during rebuilding and reconfiguring, or it could have been a glitch. I may never know.
