Just purchased a GL-A1300.
Goal is to connect to wireless network, create a VPN tunnel back to my own router at home and provide connection to wireless clients.
My home router supports L2TP and PPTP connections, which I have successfully used with my iPhone and a really old router. I purchased this because it looked like the GUI would permit easier configuration than what I’ve gone through in the past.
I’m looking for the correct way to configure this before I start downloading a ton of plugins trying to make it work.
GL iNet is great if you are willing to play in their sandbox, and only use what they give you. Although it is based on OpenWrt, they add in their own firewall rules, GUI and applications that often get in the way of non GL iNet supported interfaces/applications. They change these rules and apps, even on minor updates, that can break any of your customization without notice. I have had these updates break my modifications multiple times.
I have been able to get the SoftEther VPN client to run on 3.x firmware, but it was ugly and I don’t even want to think about what it will take under 4.x.
